Hi, I'm Kalinda
(she/her)
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with medicare rebates available to eligible participants.
I offer trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and neuro-affirming counselling for adults across Australia via online sessions, as well as in person sessions at Fitzroy North.
Whether you're exploring counselling for the first time, or looking to reconnect with support, you’re welcome here. I aim to provide a space that feels grounded, collaborative, and responsive to your individual needs.
Sessions are compassionate, non-judgemental, and guided at your pace. I work with people navigating experiences of trauma, including sexual assault, gender-based violence, childhood trauma, and challenges related to identity, relationships, and burnout.
I am currently accepting new clients and have availability for both online and in person sessions.
About Me
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a Master of Social Work, and a background in Fine Art. This combination informs my counselling practice, allowing me to bring both a creative and reflective lens, alongside an understanding of the broader systems and structures that shape our experiences.
Before moving into private practice, I worked across hospital and community settings, supporting individuals with a range of mental health and trauma-related experiences.
I’m committed to creating a space that feels safe, inclusive, and respectful - where you feel heard and supported in a way that feels meaningful to you. My practice is LGBTQIA+ and neuro-affirming, and I value working in ways that honour individuality, identity, and lived experience.
I take a collaborative and anti-oppressive approach to therapy, recognising the impact of systemic factors, including the ongoing effects of colonisation, and the ways in which some systems can feel disempowering or pathologising.
My practice is grounded in person-centred care, and I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches depending on your needs and goals including:
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
-
Narrative Therapy
-
Existential Therapy
-
Somatic approaches
-
Systems Theory
-
Intersectional feminist frameworks
Clients often describe my approach as supportive, thoughtful, and non-judgemental, and share that they feel safe and heard within sessions.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, I can offer a Medicare rebate.
